Water Wisteria is simply an AWESOME beginner plant. Water Wisteria AKA Hygrophila difformis, can take anything you can throw at it.

True to it's latin name, difformis means to be irregularly or unevenly or differently formed. This hygrophila's foliage is ruffled and unique, adding a striking texture to your tank.

As of 5-13. They have massive roots and are strong plants. Look like the main photo.

Wisteria one of those plants that when you get it going it will grow like a weed. Try it out while you are a rookie and see. Water Wisteria does well in a newly planted tank. I like to float it personally as it gets more light and send off some really great long flowing roots. Fish love hiding and breeding in  Water Wisteria's roots.

In an order you get 4-6 nice bushy stems of it, often with great roots already going.

The stems are beefy as if they have been growing in down in dirt. This picture doesn't do this great plant justice... This is one of our best selling plants for a reason. We grow them in a 90 gallon aquarium in the greenhouse which gets FULL morning sun.  The plants love this and grow like crazy for us...then on to you.

NOTE: While Water Wisteria is one of our best selling aquarium plants, we do stock other forms of Hygrophila as well. (Many of our Hygrophila's are just as hardy)

Check out our HARDY Hygrophila Cordata RED,

Or Hygrophila Cherry Leaf, or Hygrophila Compact

Care Scale of 1-10: ( 1- it can grow in your toilet- 10 being nearly impossible)

Wisteria is a 1.5 (only because it might lose a few leaves in shipping)

Can handle super low lighting, grows faster in high light

Where to Plant:

Strong plants, but yellowish?

I received two generous bunches of wisteria. Very few brown leaves. I agree with the comment above, they are strong plants; however, the roots do not seem "massive" to me, barely sticking out below the rock wool. My biggest concern, however is that the leaves are yellow (see photo). I'm hoping they'll green up over the next few days.

Great plants!

When I started my planted tank, I began with a few "brand name" plants from one of the big box pet stores. They didn't have much of a selection, and I ended up with just a few plants, when I wanted that "jungle look". One day an ad for DFT popped up on Facebook, and checked out their website: the photos looked great, the prices were good, and there were lots of good reviews, so I thought I'd pick out a nice selection. They were delivered quickly, in good condition, and wow -- they looked great! (And still do, now in my tank.) Big, full plants, which made my big box store plants look anemic. And there were extras, as well. I did notice that there was one plant type I ordered that didn't get included, and I thought maybe they sent the extras in lieu of that one. I contacted them, and heard back right away: no, the missing plants were just overlooked. They apologized and sent them out within a couple of days. These also came well packed and in good condition - along with another "extra" plant - and are now in residence in my tank. Meanwhile, the plants I received first appear to be growing like crazy already! I definitely have that jungle look now! I'm very happy with DFT, and would happily buy from them again and heartily recommend them!
