Water Wisteria AKA The HARDIEST Hygrophila (difformis)
Water Wisteria is simply an AWESOME beginner plant. Water Wisteria (or by it's scientific name- Hygrophila difformis) can take anything you can throw at it.
*IMPORTANT NOTICE**THIS PLANT WAS GROWN UNDER. It had been in near full sun and might have reddish tips. It’s a tad smaller than the pen photo shown....for now. Which is why its $7.99 and not $9.95.
We just like to be straight up about our stock- Our Stuff has been grown with Love :)
Wisteria one of those plants that when you get it going it will grow like a weed. Try it out while you are a rookie and see. Water Wisteria does well in a newly planted tank. I like to float it personally as it gets more light and send off some really great long flowing roots. Fish love hiding and breeding in Water Wisteria's roots.
In an order you get 4-6 nice bushy stems of it..often with great roots already going.
The stems are beefy as if they have been growing in down in dirt. This picture doesn't do this great plant justice... This is one of our best selling plants for a reason. We grow them in a 90 gallon aquarium in the greenhouse which gets FULL morning sun. The plants love this and grow like crazy for us...then on to you.
NOTE: While Water Wisteria is one of our best selling aquarium plants, we do stock other forms of Hygrophila as well. (Many of our Hygrophila's are just as hardy)
Check out our HARDY Hygrophila Cordata RED,
Care Scale of 1-10: ( 1- it can grow in your toilet- 10 being nearly impossible)
Wisteria is a 1.5 (only because it might lose a few leaves in shipping)
Can handle super low lighting, grows faster in high light
Where to Plant:
They came in great looking and did well for a while. After about a month of having these plants in the tank I developed a major mini snail problem, thousands, and they ate most of them, and everything else in the tank. Not sure how I got the snails, but they weren’t there before the plants. My fault for not bleaching the plants.
I ordered this and Alternanthera Reineckii as my first order with Dustin. When I received my order I was pleased with the attention to detail that was evident in the packing and shipping.
Thank you very much.
These plants are for my first planted tank. They arrived quickly and in good condition. Dustin also threw in a little bonus! Within two weeks I could see new growth. Definitely a great starter plant! Will buy from Dustin again!
They arrived in good shape. I put them in my tank and half of them melted. I did not have roots on two others and then my cichlids and plecos? They destroyed the rest. Not sure how everyone else does it but I have no living plants
did well for a long time but just hanging in there now,
