Water Wisteria AKA The HARDIEST Hygrophila (Hygrophila difformis)
Water Wisteria is simply an AWESOME beginner plant. Water Wisteria AKA Hygrophila difformis, can take anything you can throw at it.
True to it's latin name, difformis means to be irregularly or unevenly or differently formed. This hygrophila's foliage is ruffled and unique, adding a striking texture to your tank.
As of 3-2 these are 3/4 converted. They have massive roots and are strong plants. Look like the main photo.
Wisteria one of those plants that when you get it going it will grow like a weed. Try it out while you are a rookie and see. Water Wisteria does well in a newly planted tank. I like to float it personally as it gets more light and send off some really great long flowing roots. Fish love hiding and breeding in Water Wisteria's roots.
In an order you get 4-6 nice bushy stems of it, often with great roots already going.
The stems are beefy as if they have been growing in down in dirt. This picture doesn't do this great plant justice... This is one of our best selling plants for a reason. We grow them in a 90 gallon aquarium in the greenhouse which gets FULL morning sun. The plants love this and grow like crazy for us...then on to you.
NOTE: While Water Wisteria is one of our best selling aquarium plants, we do stock other forms of Hygrophila as well. (Many of our Hygrophila's are just as hardy)
Check out our HARDY Hygrophila Cordata RED,
Care Scale of 1-10: ( 1- it can grow in your toilet- 10 being nearly impossible)
Wisteria is a 1.5 (only because it might lose a few leaves in shipping)
Can handle super low lighting, grows faster in high light
Where to Plant:
I had bought some (3 skinny stems) Water Westeria at my LFS and after moving it from the planting pot to my substrate it started to have a bad time.
I got some additional from Dustin and I got beautiful thick stems and leaves and my tank looks so much better. Shrimp and Rasbora's are a lot happier with this new set of plants.
As always, more stems than expected, and great quality!
They came in nicely wrapped. They were nice and healthy and nice size. A lot larger and better than other places.
This plant looks great in my little 5 gallon guppy tank. 👍
Received a very healthy bunch. Looks like it took to my tank right away. Can’t beat Justin’s.
