Crypt Spiralis is one of hardier species of Crypts that I have just recently started keeping. Crypt Spiralis has thicker leaves and grows taller. It also has a tendency to shoot off runners all over other parts of your tank. Crypt Spiralis makes a great background plant. The thing that shocks me about Crypt Spiralis is how when we got it in, it didn't melt like most crypts. NOTE: That doesn't mean it won't melt in your tank, but it will grow back. If you have never kept a Crypt before, you should start with Crypt Spiralis....great hardy Crypt!
Will come in grown underwater vs. above water growth! *Picture shows above water*
Care Scale of 1-10:
1.5 The .5 is only because it might melt back if what we are selling has not fully converted to underwater growth... (grows better in good substrate BUT can plant in plain gravel)
1.0 If it is a small plug like in the second picture which means we've been growing it submerged for a month or two :)
Grows fine in low light. Will send off runners faster if it is under higher light.
Where to Plant:
Back ground or mid ground if it is a really tall tank.
TRY THIS PLANT IF YOU WANT THE EASIEST CRYPTS I SELL..
Pairs well with Anubias..
Spend a minute and go thru the website. All of my questions were answered by simply looking at different pages on Dustin's site. My order arrived by USPS on time and perfect. USPS is not very reliable in this town I prefer using UPS. I wish that was an option. I am already looking at some more plants.
Much to my delight, the Cryptocoryne Spiralis arrived neatly trimmed with not excessive plant growth. This is ideal for transplanting, especially crypts. It has been two days since their arrival and they are already pearling. WOW. Signs of healthy plants. Thank you Dustin!
I was very happy with this plan upon arrival. It was much larger than expected and it was very healthy and has been setting into the tank very well. My only disappointment is that I did not find Dustin's Fish Tanks sooner as I would have had a lot less heart ache nursing some of my other plants to the healthy state they are now.
If you want good plants that will start healthy and are yours to kill not heal, Buy Now!
I have learned to look more for quality root systems. The roots on these were rather small and fine and not enough to enable separating fully to allow individual planting and actually stay in place. I had to leave most in the foam as an anchor in the substrate and hope to eventually be able to separate them.
The Crypts look very nice. they’ve done some of the normal melt back but seem to be adjusting well.
