Crypt Spiralis is one of hardier species of Crypts that I have just recently started keeping. Crypt Spiralis has thicker leaves and grows taller. It also has a tendency to shoot off runners all over other parts of your tank. Crypt Spiralis makes a great background plant. The thing that shocks me about Crypt Spiralis is how when we got it in, it didn't melt like most crypts. NOTE: That doesn't mean it won't melt in your tank, but it will grow back. If you have never kept a Crypt before, you should start with Crypt Spiralis....great hardy Crypt!
Will come in grown underwater vs. above water growth! *Picture shows above water*
Care Scale of 1-10:
1.5 The .5 is only because it might melt back if what we are selling has not fully converted to underwater growth... (grows better in good substrate BUT can plant in plain gravel)
1.0 If it is a small plug like in the second picture which means we've been growing it submerged for a month or two :)
Grows fine in low light. Will send off runners faster if it is under higher light.
Where to Plant:
Back ground or mid ground if it is a really tall tank.
TRY THIS PLANT IF YOU WANT THE EASIEST CRYPTS I SELL..
Pairs well with Anubias..
Beautiful plant! Unfortunately, I live in New England, and ordering plants in the winter is just a bad idea up here. There was a heat pack, but the plants still arrived with ice packed around their roots. Only a few in the bunch bunch survived the ice (despite a well-established planted tank with daily Growth Juice). Maybe a Styrofoam shipping container would have helped? This is a weather issue, not a Dustin issue, so, if you order and they won't freeze along the way, you won't be disappointed! The ones that did survive have melted hard, but there is new growth and I know they will be fine.
I ordered one and what I received was a small bunch and not just one plant like I assumed I would. Just put them in my tank. They still look good, even though IME crypts have a tendency to melt I feel pretty confident that these will all do quite well in my tank.
Ordered for my nephew as a Christmas gift. We live in Kentucky and this is the only place he buys plants for his tanks. Fast shipping and easy to work with!
I love love love 💕 the plants!
The ONLY suggestion I have is maybe a little note to say how to plant.... Will it self propagate? Is it a root heavy plant? Do we take the wrapping off or plant it with it? Stuff that might not be obvious to the newbie aquarium planters.
