Alternanthera Reineckii "Variegated" (Our #1 selling Aquarium Plant)
There is a reason this is our #1 Best Selling plant. YOU WON'T FIND BETTER.- Period.
We've grown this underwater for over a month. They have roots and are awesome. Don't take my word for it, read the reviews!
Alternanthera reineckii variegated also called Telanthera Cardinalis is another Bryan Favorite that he said I should add. I am glad he talked me into it. The leaves have a nice red to the underside of them when under the right conditions. What we are stocking now have a great red to them.
This plant isn't quite as easy as Rotala, but it's close. (I like it more than Rotala as the leaves are thicker and wider) Think of it like a Ludwigia in terms of ease of keeping. It also has the little roots that run along the stems periodically so it can easily be trimmed down and replanted. Once it is established you will be impressed with its leaves red color. It is best used as a back ground or mid ground plant if you want to keep it trimmed.
Like many other bunch plants you top Alternanthera reineckii variegated and plant the top to spread it out. We will send you between 5-7 stems. This is an awesome plant that may not be available for long. For those of you who jump at the opportunity to add this to your tank, you will not be disappointed.
Try Our Growth Juice for all of your fertilizer needs.
Suggested Supplement: Iron
Care Scale of 1-10: ( 1- it can grow in your toilet- 10 being nearly impossible)
Alternanthera reineckii is a 2. The only reason Alternanthera reineckii is a 2 is because it has slighly thin leaves which might cause a few to fall on in transition from our tanks to yours.
Can handle low lighting, grows faster and looks better in higher light.
Where to Plant:
Total background plant. Remove the binding. Plant bottom of stem directly into substrate.
Temps: This plant can handle the high 60s but it enjoys an even 70-74 degrees!
Ill give it 5 stars but my ability to keep it happy a 3. Not sure what im doing wrong but it just kinda survives. I have low tech tanks and just doesnt seem happy where I put it. Lovely plant though!!
This is an attractive plant that is very hardy. It roots easily. I laid a stem down horizontally, and it sent a new plant up at each nodule.
Sorry, did not do well at all for me, just disappeared even with the use of your "juice".
Looked good for sometime but the fish kept uprooting it so it faded away never got to grow good roots.
