We've grown this underwater for over a month. They have roots and are awesome. Don't take my word for it, read the reviews.
This plant isn't quite as easy as Rotala, but it's close. (I like it more than Rotala as the leaves are thicker and wider) Think of it like a Ludwigia in terms of ease of keeping. It also has the little roots that run along the stems periodically so it can easily be trimmed down and replanted. Once it is established you will be impressed with its leaves red color. It is best used as a back ground or mid ground plant if you want to keep it trimmed.
Like many other bunch plants you top Alternanthera reineckii and plant the top to spread it out. We will send you between 5-7 stems. This is an awesome plant that may not be available for long. For those of you who jump at the opportunity to add this to your tank, you will not be disappointed.

Alternanthera reineckii is a 2. The only reason Alternanthera reineckii is a 2 is because it has slighly thin leaves which might cause a few to fall on in transition from our tanks to yours.
Lighting:
Can handle low lighting, grows faster and looks better in higher light.
Where to Plant:
Total background plant. Remove the binding. Plant bottom of stem directly into substrate.
Temps: This plant can handle the high 60s but it enjoys an even 70-74 degrees!

Wow, what an awesome plant. So glad you had it in stock. The past two weeks for me have been ruff.
My 20-gallon crashed with a bad case of ich fish were dropping the meds weren't working and aquarium salt was a
bummer. I love the technique you used to bind the roots. a little TLC foam wrapped around the base of the stems in the center a small rock to hold them down finish off with a rubber band. Nice touch I no longer want to use those lead weights strips in my aquariums They have a tendency to corrode in the substrate. Thank you for sending me healthy plants I am looking forward doing more business with you in the future.
This is my third purchase from DFT and it never disappoints. The althernanthera is looing fabulous and you can my first purchase qas the crypt hole package and you can see how huge they have gotten also from about six months and never had any crypt melt.
I tried to follow Dustin’s advice about “sticking with what works”, but I wanted to try these. All my plants are green and these really stand out in a great way. And thanks to Dustin for throwing in some extra!
I can't speak to the quality of the plants because I went absolutely stupid. My review will focus on the service, no-pain ordering - simply as easy as could be, and the shipping was not only reasonable, but the plants showed up a day earlier than expected. Could not be happier...But...I got busy at work and at home and forgot about them, in the box, for days, needless to say they are all dead - my own dumb fault. But, I would definitely order from Dustin again...
