I remember seeing Banana plants in the random 10 gallon "Planted Tank" at Meijer's as a kid. It's I plant I bought as a child and didn't kill.
YES- Banana Plants are EASY to keep. The "Bananas" are actually roots, storage centers for the plant.....and yes- they look like bananas. This makes this plant ideal for a beginner or KIDS aquarium! They won't kill it and get to show off the "bananas" in their tank.
This plant can handle LOW LIGHT.
On a Scale of 1 to 10. 1 being you could grow it in your toilet and 10 being, "You look at it wrong and it dies" THIS PLANT IS A 1.5
(And the only reason for the .5 is that the top upper Lily leaf might melt back but it will grow back a new one!)
Nymphoides aquatica is It is known variously as the banana plant, banana lily, and the big floatingheart. The "Nymph" part of its name signifies it's "Lily" type leaf.
If you like this plant make sure and check out our Red Tiger Lotus or "Dwarf Lily" as it is equally easy with a NICE RED LEAF. The two in the same tank would make a nice contrast.

I hate to say it, because they do have great plants, but...I had issues with the shipment and my order. The order arrived 9 days after I placed the order (it was in transit for 9 days)...so the plants arrived pretty dead. I emailed them no less than 5 times and also called them 3 times (leaving messages on their voice mail that states "we don't check messages often, so it is better to email." It is not really better to email, because those also go unanswered...Anyhow, I have tried to get in touch with them 8 times over the past week, and still no return phone call or email. Disappointed with the customer service. It is a shame because they do have good stuff. But I won't order from here again.
I received my little bannana plant and it arrived earlier than expected and very healthy.
The banana plants got delivered and I was not home. Ice pack(can you say water, it was 110* heat index that day) I don’t know how long they’d been there (my porch)the paper they were wrapped in was moist. No roots. ☹️Didn’t matter put them in my tank and they’ve been hanging out producing a plethora of foliage (very pretty) Still looking for some roots (there’s. nubs so there’s hope) but I love them just the way they are. Sure roots will show up any day so I’m not worried. And if they never do I’d still and may order a few more soon. Great Experience Will Order Again!!

My wife saw this plant and we had to have it. It is very unique and a very fun addition to the tank. My Betta loves bouncing it around the tank. Not sure if that is great for the plant but it is very entertaining for him and for us! It arrived very healthy; one leaf had broken but the box looked like it was treated *very* roughly so I'm impressed with the packing. When I saw the box I figured the plants would be smashed. But they were all healthy and ready to go. I definitely recommend this plant, and recommend Dustin's for all your plants.
