There is a reason this is our #1 Best Selling plant. YOU WON'T FIND BETTER.- Period.

We've grown this underwater for over a month. They have roots and are awesome. Don't take my word for it, read the reviews!

Alternanthera reineckii variegated also called Telanthera Cardinalis is another Bryan Favorite that he said I should add. I am glad he talked me into it. The leaves have a nice red to the underside of them when under the right conditions. What we are stocking now have a great red to them.

This plant isn't quite as easy as Rotala, but it's close. (I like it more than Rotala as the leaves are thicker and wider) Think of it like a Ludwigia in terms of ease of keeping. It also has the little roots that run along the stems periodically so it can easily be trimmed down and replanted. Once it is established you will be impressed with its leaves red color. It is best used as a back ground or mid ground plant if you want to keep it trimmed.

Like many other bunch plants you top Alternanthera reineckii variegated and plant the top to spread it out. We will send you between 5-7 stems. This is an awesome plant that may not be available for long. For those of you who jump at the opportunity to add this to your tank, you will not be disappointed.

Try Our Growth Juice for all of your fertilizer needs.
Suggested Supplement: Iron

Care Scale of 1-10: ( 1- it can grow in your toilet- 10 being nearly impossible)

Alternanthera reineckii is a 2.  The only reason Alternanthera reineckii is a 2 is because it has slighly thin leaves which might cause a few to fall on in transition from our tanks to yours.

Lighting:

Can handle low lighting, grows faster and looks better in higher light.

Where to Plant:

Total background plant. Remove the binding. Plant bottom of stem directly into substrate.

Temps: This plant can handle the high 60s but it enjoys an even 70-74 degrees!

Wouldn't try again.

This was a bummer. The plants arrived as scheduled. The color was absolutely amazing. And there were probably 8 sprouts. Seemed like a little melt during shipping, but all in all, okay.
I knew I was in a pickle when I unwrapped the roots. It was VERY tight, and about 70% of the roots came off in the wrapping. It was then that I noticed several breaks in the stems.
I planted them as carefully as I could, and my goal was to add no more damage to the stems.

Day 1, they looked a little tattered. I had 8 stems in the tank.
Day 2, half of the plants melted completely away, stems and all.
Day 3, of the original 8 sprouts, 3 remain, and look horrible.
Day 4, which is now, 1 plant, and a bare stem.
Hopefully the one I have left will bounce back, but it is going to be a couple of months at best. I really have no hope for it. And even if it manages to survive, it's gonna be an eye sore for a couple of months.
I didn't photograph the plants as I unwrapped them. But other than some broken stems, it looked pretty good, until I got to the roots. I didn't follow standard protocol for refunds and take pictures, and that's on me. I did reply within about a half hour to the confirmation email, which it said to do if I had a problem, but it was fairly late on a Friday. I didn't really expect one that late in the day. The exterior packaging looked fine. The plants were saturated, and cool. Again, the color on this plant out of the package was stunning!
I also got a package of red root floaters, and was relatively pleased. The quantity was GREAT, the color was not. But I have no doubt that they will perk up with a little time in the water. There was a pretty fair amount of melting from them too, but I think it was from being water logged in shipping, which I expected. As far as they are concerned, I would absolutely order again.
In fact, I would order moss, other floaters, and maybe even the anubias from there.
But stem plants, that's a firm NO.

Amazing

I’ve bought 20+ plants from Dustins to fill out my first fish tank, and all of them look amazing. On top of it, they were kind enough to throw in a couple bonus plants. Simply the best!

I don’t want to leave this review, it feels like I’m giving away my secret fishing spot. But, man were these plants supreme! Both in health and quantity. Definitely be ordering from Dustin’s again.
