Myriophyllum tuberculatum (INSANE Red Aquarium Plant)
NOTE: As of 7.24 THESE ARE WOW. YOU WON'T FIND BETTER.
I wish I would have found this aquarium plant sooner. Wow. I had avoided Myriophyllum tuberculatum because I thought it would be a little too tough to keep. Not so. This Myriophyllum tuberculatum is actually thriving for us despite the fact that it has finer leaves and is red. This plant is similar to a Foxtail or other kinds of Myrio.
I like the leaf pattern on this plant more than others. If you look closely it has a unique woven look to its leaves. We are currently keeping this plant in one of our higher light tanks and it is doing well. This Myriophyllum tuberculatum can handle lower light but won't give you the nicer reddish colors and would be more of a darker brown. It makes a great contrast to any planted aquarium. Buy our Iron Supplement and keep this guy looking this red!
This plant is currently about 5-8 inches tall.
Care Scale of 1-10: ( 1- it can grow in your toilet- 10 being nearly impossible)
We give Myriophyllum tuberculatum at 4 out of 10. It likes a hard cut and replant. (You can propagate it easily this way and make it bushier)
Lighting:
Can handle super low lighting but will grow skinnier, grows faster in high light.
THE MORE LIGHT YOU GIVE IT THE MORE RED IT WILL BE. The less light you give it it will be more dull and green looking.
During the summer try it outside in the sun!
