Water Lettuce
Water Lettuce...yum. This plant is one of the fastest, surface covering pond plants available. It grows so fast that it is illegal to sell in certain states. If you want a cool looking "cover plant' for your own garden pond, water lettuce is that plant. The roots hang down in to the water providing shelter for not only fish but other beneficial micro organisms for you pond.
Because Lettuce grows ABOVE the water, it "works" for you. (Plants that grow above the surface use more CO2 and get more light than plants grown below water.) Water lettuce is a filtering plant, the upper part grows like crazy as it helps remove waste from your pond. We are selling one nice huge one or a few small ones. I received 1 huge rosette with an outstanding amount of long roots. Clearly a mature plant. The usps ruined that with their ridiculous delays. Everything fell off while rinsing, with exception of 3 feathery roots. I honestly am not even sure if they're attached...i didn't want to pull at them to find out. I snipped the melted leaves off at the crown which nearly halved it in size. You can tell this was a big beautiful rosette when originally packaged. I'm hoping it survives the shipping debacle. To be clear, not Dustin's fault! Everything I've read said to not fertilize this week and give it a longer photo period under my lights to jump start it, so I'm hoping I can save it 😊 my pearl gourami was super happy to see a floater in the tank finally lol.
I purchased this plant and another for an outdoor wildlife pond. These came to me with lightning speed looking super healthy and green with huge roots! I couldn’t be happier!
I ordered the Water lettuce, Anubia Nana, and Wisteria to place in my 30 gallon tank.
The order process was fast and easy! I ordered on the Fourth of July, which was a Saturday and my order arrived early morning on Wednesday. The weather was hot, but my plants were not!
Everything arrived in perfect condition and the amount that I received blew me away! They threw in a tiger lotus and it was big and beautiful too! Everything was well packed and very healthy and green! No loss of leaves, no visible hitchhikers (I rinsed well anyway ) and overall very nice, very beautiful plants.
There were three water lettuce plants and the biggest one had "babies" on it too, so overall I had enough of those plants for all 5 of my tanks. The largest one had roots so long that it goes from top to bottom of the 30 gallon tank!
The wisteria was bushy and green. About nine long full stems that were well rooted. Most of these went into my 30 gallon tank and the rest I split between the others.
The Anubia Nana was absolutely beautiful and full of leaves. It split into two nice sized plants, both of which I decided to put in the 30 gallon tank.
I have other plants in all of my tanks, but I needed some more and I really wanted some water lettuce and something that my Platies and Moonlight gourami wouldn't eat, so I ordered the wisteria.
So far so good, though they all are trying their level best to mow them down. BTW - platies and gouramis need a bigger warning label -- WILL EAT YOUR PRECIOUS PLANTS AND SAY GOOD BY TO ANY THAT YOU REALLY WANTED TO GROW NICE.
