We carry \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cb\u003eHARDY FRESH WATER AQUARIUM PLANTS\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e. \u003cem\u003eWe have many plants that are just plain hard to kill. \u003c\/em\u003eThat doesn't mean you can't kill them. Its just means that they are harder to kill.\r\n\r\nIt has always been my belief that I should provide easy aquarium plants for beginners in the hobby.  We carry specifically easy to grow aquarium plants for beginners to get off on the right foot.\r\n\r\nOne of our main goals is to sell you \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cb\u003ehardy fresh water plants \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003ethat are going to thrive in your tank. While not all of our plants are super hardy, most of them are. Besides, what good is it if you buy plants that come in half dead and are a waste of money?\r\n\r\nOne of the hardest to kill plants we have are \u003cstrong\u003e\u003ca href=\"http:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.com\/aquarium-plants\/amazon-swords\/\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eAmazon Swords\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e. These aquarium plants can take a beating.  Amazon Swords have a naturally hardy root structure and leaves that will grow back quickly.  They are a classic plant that is a staple in the aquarium hobby. Like with most plants, you might buy it and all of the leaves wither off. (this is normal as they adjust) Don't worry Amazon Swords will grow right back.\r\n\r\n\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ca href=\"http:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.com\/aquarium-product\/jungle-vallisneria\/\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eJungle Val\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e is another hard to kill plant. It isn't as hardy as amazon swords because it has naturally smaller stems and roots, but it is still a hard to kill aquarium plant. \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.com\/aquarium-product\/jungle-vallisneria\/\"\u003eJungle Val\u003c\/a\u003e grows runners faster then any plant I know. I have seen it shoot runners all over a tank to get more light. I have kept Jungle Val in just sand with hardly any light on it. I've also changed its water from super cold to hot and all it did was melt and grow back stronger.\r\n\r\n\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ca href=\"http:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.com\/aquarium-product\/sagittaria-subulata\/\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eSagittaria \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003eis a hard to kill plant, just like Jungle Val. It is built the same way as Jungle Val, only it doesn't get as tall.  \u003cstrong\u003e\u003ca href=\"http:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.com\/aquarium-product\/sagittaria-subulata\/\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eDwarf Sagittaria\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e might even have a stronger stem and root structure than Val.  It grows like grass in your planted tank if you have a good substrate.\r\n\r\n\u003cstrong\u003e\u003ca href=\"http:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.com\/aquarium-product\/java-fern-reg\/\"\u003e\u003cb\u003eJava Fern\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e is another hard to kill aquarium plant. You can let it almost entirely dry out and it will be ok. It has thick leaves and a hard rhizome. You can even keep it with Cichlids if you are brave. In the wild it grows out of the side of rocks with very little nutrients. Tie it to driftwood or a rock and roll on....  \u003ca href=\"http:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.com\/aquarium-plants\/java-fern\/\"\u003eJava Fern\u003c\/a\u003e is a great plant for almost any kind of aquarium setup.\r\n\r\n\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cb\u003eAnubias\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e is super hardy plant. It is a thick, slow growing plant that can handle being kept in almost brackish water. It is sensitive to huge temperature changes, but will come back. It also hates RO water, but if you are a beginner, you aren't messing with RO so...People keep it with Cichlids but I don't recommend it. With a beautiful dark lime green color and thick sword like leaves, Anubias Congensis is an outstanding plant for the mid or back ground of your tank. This may very well be the plant you’ve been lacking for the perfect tank. Standing taller than \u003ca style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'San Francisco', 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', sans-serif; font-size: 1.4em;\" href=\"https:\/\/dustinsfishtanks.com\/products\/anubias-minima\" title=\"Anubias Minima\"\u003e\u003cspan style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"\u003eAnubias Minima\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/a\u003e, Congensis can reach heights of twelve to fourteen inches in a well lit tank. If your tank is not lit to well, that’s not a problem; Congensis will keep shorter leaves and grow slower in a dimmer tank. That being said beginners to experts can find success with this killer Anubias species. Each leaf that is\u003cspan style=\"color: black;\"\u003e produced\u003c\/span\u003e points to the top of the tank and stays vertical at all times. Other Anubias species with blade-like leaves, such as Minima or Frazeri, usually keep the flat surface towards the light, Congensis will not. If you want a plant to fill in a dark spot in the tank or if you’re looking for a splash of brighter green in the tank, Congensis will make a great addition. Like other variants, \u003cstrong\u003eCongensis\u003c\/strong\u003e can handle an array of water parameters; from slightly brackish with a high ph to softer water with ph of 7.0. Personally I have found that the roots of Congenis are thicker than most other Anubias species I have kept, which makes it more difficult to move them around the tank than a smaller plant like Nana. Once planted though, you will not be disappointed. No matter the lighting, substrate, or your level of knowledge in the aquarium hobby, \u003cem\u003eAnubias Congensis\u003c\/em\u003e is an easy to keep, hardy plant. I'm all about beginners and this is about as beginner of a plant as you can get. Elodea (or Anacharis) is commonly used in ponds as well as aquariums. What I really like about Anacharis Elodea is how you can just break off a piece of it and shove it down in your substrate and grow a whole new plant.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYOU WILL RECEIVE 3-4 SOLID STEMS! It can easily absorb excess nutrients in your tank. (That doesn't mean skip your water changes people) \u003cstrong\u003eAnacharis\u003c\/strong\u003e has thick, sometimes bright green leaves (dependant on the light it is under) and is great for oxygen exchange. Ideally, you want to have \u003cem\u003eAmazon Swords\u003c\/em\u003e in a planted tank that has a large amount of nutrients available in the substrate. Amazon Swords are heavy eaters and will prefer this setup.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: left;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSmall Amazon Swords\u003c\/strong\u003e are $8 and are anywhere from 2-5 inches. If you are ordering a few small ones we might thrown in ones that are slightly smaller than 2 inches but we will give you an extra plant. We grow them in house underwater. The first rule with Anubias of any kind is that it is very sensitive to temperature shock. Crypt Spiralis has thicker leaves and grows taller. The thing that shocks me about Crypt Spiralis is how when we got it in, it didn't melt like most crypts. NOTE: That doesn't mean it won't melt in your tank, but it will grow back. I recently found out that Java Fern Windelov was named after Holger Windelov, the founder of Tropica in Denmark. I can tell you that it will grow differently in each. When I had it in the lower light 55, it grew with wider leaves and smaller bushes at the top. These plants we are offering here came out of my 220. They were under high light and water around 75 degrees.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe best way to keep Java Fern Windelov or any Java Fern is to tie it to a rock or a piece of driftwood with black thread. This is what I did when I first this plant for my 220. I took a small portion of two leaves and tied the rhizome several times over and over again to a rock. I don't recall how long it actually took the Windelov Java Fern to really take off, but I can tell you that once it got adjusted and a good grasp on the rock--- It went nuts. Get a piece like you see in the picture for your planted tank now. I first fell in love with Jungle Val when I put it in my high tech tank. (high lights\/ dirt and CO2) It grew to the point where it was out of control.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere were so many runners popping up that I had a hard time removing it when I wanted it out of my tank. Jungle val also does great in a beginners tank without dirt. I have seen it in low light tanks with hardly any sort of nutrients in the substrate. (If you want to have a great substrate, check out our dirt substrate kits) I have seen Jungle val grow in just plain sand even. It can handle the abuse of a beginner but also reward someone who is more advanced.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt likes slightly higher calcium content. (Don't over think this unless you have like discus low ph water)    It has a strong sturdy stem structure and will handle the abuse of rowdy fish. I have heard people keeping it with cichlids... I don't keep cichlids and promise nothing with those fish and most plants.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe only draw back to this plant is it has a strong \"Stalk\" like stem that periodically used to break off in rough shipping situations which is why you haven't seen it on our site for awhile.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat is cool about \u003cstrong\u003eWater Sprite \u003c\/strong\u003ewhen floated is that is produces extensive, sweet looking roots down into the tank. It grows wide leaves that attempt to cover the waters surface. My angels loved this and your fish will like it as well. This is also beneficial for newly hatched fry as well as they can hide in the big roots. Water Sprite can also be rooted down just like a normal plant. It doesn't have the hardiest roots so you'll want to get it down in there pretty good.
