This premium substrate comes from ashes of a volcano in Japan. Yes- all the way on the other side of the earth- right to your door and into your tank.
Look, I have ran dirt in all kinds of aquariums. The plant growth is fantastic, moving plants around in a dirted tank is…well…NOT Fantastic. You pull the plants up and they are followed by a cloud of dirt which then gets all over everything in your planted tank. NOT with this stuff.
The fine volcanic ash comes in three sizes 1mm, 3mm and 5mm. Black or Brown so pick your style. I run the 3mm in 3 of my tanks in the greenhouse. These are tanks that I am constantly moving plants around in. The plants I pull out have great roots when I take them out AND they don’t trash the tanks in the process.
The old saying, “You get what you pay for. ” is around for a reason. You can go “Dirt Cheap” or you can buy a bag or two of this stuff and never have to mess with substrate again.
