If you haven’t noticed i did my last 3 Species Sunday episodes….I am on a Loach kick.
This isn’t the first time this has happened either, I was on Loach love affair back in 2007 when I lived in Boca Raton FL as well. It was at this time that I was introduced to Botia Angelicus. (See below)
Loaches are great the setups that I run and with good reason. I keep pretty peaceful fish that don’t really mess with each other too badly. I have found that Loaches for the most part are pretty chill when it comes to their other tank mates. There is one exception to this that I have witnessed first hand. The Skunk Loach (white with black tail and a bit of red on them) These Skunk Loaches terrorized all of my fish in my 125 way back. I am a peaceful dude and am all about a certain level of Zen going on in my tank. The Skunk Loach I had in there was messing up my feng shui. I think he lasted about 4 days until I returned him to the shop I got him from.
It is kind of a toss up for me on which species I really like the most. The Golden Dojo loach I had awhile back had some great personality. He also acquired a pretty sweet name as well. B.P.P. (Short for “Big Pink Penis”) (BPP swam around and looks like a pink penis, what can I say?) He really was all over the place at the tank and often greeted me when I approached the tank. This species was also one of my “OG” or “Original Gangster” fish species that I had as a young child back with my goldfish.
Botia Angelicus is also a great one…….
